Carlos Chiriboga, M.D.
Dr. Chiriboga will discuss his five years experience using autologous stem cells in an orthopedic surgical practice through case presentation. Among cases discussed will be stem cells used in conjunction with femoral head core decompression, salvage of femur and tibia post osteomyelitis, salvage of ankle joint post severe trauma, arthroscopic debridement of the knee/meniscus repair, as well as its use to postpone or avoid total joint arthroscopy.
Dr. Chiriboga completed his M.D. at Universidad Catolica de Santiago in Guayaquil, Ecuador, his residency in orthopedic surgery at UniversidadAutonoma in Barcelona, Spain, HOSPITAL VALLE HEBRÓN, and his fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery in Hospital Sant Joan de Deu in Barcelona, Spain. Currently, he is the chair of EMERGENCY at the Omni Hospital and the medical director of Centro de Ortopedia y MedicinaCelular in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In addition to his medical career, he has been very involved in public health policy in Ecuador. Head of Teaching Unit at the Omnhihospital and Professor of Orthopedic and Traumatology at the University Espíritu Santo UEES, ECUADOR. A long time practitioner of non-surgical regenerative techniques such as neural therapy and prolotherapy, in 2011 Dr. Chiriboga began collaborating with Harry Adelson, N.D. in order to provide stem cell therapy to his surgical and non-surgical patients.
